Workshop Overview

More than 95% of the 260,000 people employed in childhood education and care nationally are female. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 65% of women between 25 and 34 have their first child and almost 40% of those women have a second child within three years.

Understanding and managing staff and their entitlements during pregnancy, parental leave and on return to work, has always been a challenge. And from 1 January 2021, employees have access to a range of new and more flexible benefits that make managing this leave even more complex.
