Workplace Relations Q & A

Everything you wanted to know but didn't know who to ask.

The Workshop

Following many requests from service providers DJMIR has organised a workshop in a "Question and Answer" format where participants, when they book a place, will be able to submit up to Three (3) questions to be answered at the workshop.

Examples of the questions participants have been asking are:

  • Can I ask problem parents to find alternative care and if so how ?
  • What's the difference between a dress code and a uniform, is an allowance payable?
  • If a staff member receives a qualification higher than the job I employed them for, do I have to pay them at the rate of their qualification?
  • If a special needs child goes on holiday, do I have to keep the special needs worker employed even though I'm not receiving funding.
  • How do you manage long term workers comp absence?
  • If I buy staff dinner, do I still have to pay them for a staff meeting
  • My staff member and I have agreed not to pay overtime, Can I do that ?
A majority of time at the workshop will be spent on ensuring that questions causing issues for service providers are answered.   Each workshop is limited to only 40 participants so book early.   No-one will leave the workshop without a clear battle plan to address their issues, and the confidence to take it on.

Who Should Attend

This workshop will be beneficial for Approved Providers, Area Co-ordinators, Directors/Nominated Supervisors, Managers, Front-Line Supervisors and HR and IR practitioners working in early childhood education and care.
